When you’re mountain biking you need a lot of water usually depending on how long your ride is or how hot it gets. There is a lot to consider. You need to have water with you to stay hydrated and cool and a place to stash all of your self recovery gear. The Source Outdoor Race 15l pack is extraordinary and while it comes with there awesome wide-pac bladder the features do not stop there.
This lightweight, mid-volume hydration pack has an expandable cargo area and has a volume of 15l. Also included is Source Outdoor’s Award Winning Wide-Pac hydration reservoir. The large main compartment has an expansion zipper, external essentials compartment and two fast access hip pockets for even more storage. I use one of the hip pockets for my car keys when I ride.
The shoulder straps are well padded and comfortable. The sternum sternum strap is adjustable and also has a removable waist belt. The entire body of the pack is made from 70D ripstop nylon and is very tough and durable.
The bladder is really the best bladder I have tested and still use it in my pack when I am on day-hikes, mountain bike rides or when I venture into the back-country backpacking. This is the bladder I use. The Source Wide-Pac bladder is easy to clean, has a “glass like” liner that prevents Bio-Film buildup keeping your water tasting good and not nasty if you accidentally left water in there for a week or two…I have and the water tasted just fine with no smell.
The bite valve is a rounded Helix valve that twists to lock and unlock and has a great amount of flow with just a soft bite. The pack weighs in at 1.7 lb which is a little on the heavy side but keep in mind this pack will carry everything you need plus some where ever you go!
The back panel is vented also making it breath really well and because the pads on the back panel are raised it increases airflow keeping you more comfortable for longer. The Race pack comes in Black/Red, Orange/Yellow or Blue/Green and retails for about $100. You can help support my website and YouTube channel by purchasing this pack here.
